The LCU-ONE is AiM's wide band controller using the BOSCH LSU 4.9 lambda sensor, designed for gasoline AND diesel engines. The LCU-ONE controls the lambda sensor(s) and measures the AIR/FUEL ratio (AFR) and the Lambda value for the engine. Both analog and digital (CAN) outputs are provided for Lambda and AFR.

The lambda value is the actual air fuel ratio over the stoichiometric point, the theoretical optimal air/fuel ratio where all available oxygen in the air combines with all available fuel. For gasoline-driven engines, the stoichiometric ratio is 14.57 pounds of air for every pound of fuel.

The LCU-ONE also measures the lambda value from 0.65 to free air.

Wide band sensors must be heated to work properly. The LCU-ONE automatically manages the sensor heater in order to maintain the sensor at the optimum temperature.

Using the CAN bus, the LCU-ONE provides information about sensor temperature and heater diagnosis to indicate fault conditions like open load, short circuit to ground or short circuit to power supply. Lambda values are provided by a configurable 0-5 volt analog output.

To configure analog output and other parameters, dedicated software is provided (Lambda Configurator). If you connect LCU-ONE to an MXL by CAN BUS, you can use Race Studio 2 software for the configuration instead.
